Useful on horses that need more support and guidance around turns, like young and inexperienced ones or very strong ones. The full cheek bit is very popular with show jumpers for turning quickly. The increased pressure from using the second rein on the gag bit causes the bit to tilt and be pulled upwards in the mouth. This results in a stronger effect.
